日本では台風の風速は〇〇M/S(秒速〇〇メートル)、アメリカではハリケーンの風速は〇〇MPH(時速〇〇マイル)と違う基準で表現しますので、数字に惑わされます。秒速 x 3.6 = 時速なので、計算上は秒速50メートルの台風は時速110マイルのハリケーンと同じぐらいです。
Typhoons and hurricanes are both tropical cyclones but form in different places. Typhoons form off the coast of Philippines and often make landfall on Philippines, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, and Japan. Hurricanes often form in the Caribbean and proceed up in north. I'm often confused how strong the wind is. In Japan, the wind speed of typhoons are shown in meters per second whereas hurricanes in miles per hour in the USA.
