日本では台風の風速は〇〇M/S(秒速〇〇メートル)、アメリカではハリケーンの風速は〇〇MPH(時速〇〇マイル)と違う基準で表現しますので、数字だけ聞いていると戸惑います。例えば、秒速50メートルの台風は時速110マイルのハリケーンと同じぐらいです。
Typhoons and hurricanes are both tropical cyclones but form in different places. It's often confusing to see how strong they are because the wind speed are measured and expressed differently, hurricanes in miles per hour and typhoons in meters per second in Japan.
