English version comes after Japanese.
中学や高校の英語のテストって、たいがい最初から3問目ぐらいがアクセントの問題で「こんなの意味あるの？」と思ってましたが、今更ながらアクセントって大事だと思う。例えば、「dessert」(デザート)と「desert」(砂漠)は、書き出すとSの数が違うので別の単語だと分かりますが、音だけだと同じ。でもデザートは前にアクセント、砂漠は後ろにアクセントがあって、間違えると何の話だかさっぱり分からなくなります。
It's been a long time since I started learning English but again and again I find the accent is quite important in speaking the language. For example, we can see "dessert" and "desert" are totally different words in writing but if you speak out, you need to put the accent on the correct vowel.
