留学あるあるを1つ。今はクレジットカードだと思うんですが、30年前の北米のアパート(特に高層)は洗濯機・乾燥機が共同で地下にあって25セントコイン(quarter)が数枚必要でした。アパート住まいの友達とご飯に行くとquarterを渡すのがお決まりでした。
30 years ago in North America, people used to insert 8 quarters for laundry. I changed quarters into a dollar bill when I had lunch with friends during my college years in Vancouver. I didn't need quarters for laundry because I lived with a Canadian family but some of my friends who lived in an apartment needed many of them.
