学校の英語で母音の発音をAIUEO(あいうえお)と習ったおかげでいまだに読み方に苦労します。A は「あ」ではなくて「エイ」だし、E は「え」ではなくて「イー」だし、Iは「アイ」なので、例えば「IKEA」はスウェーデンで「イケア」なんだと思いますが、英語圏では「アイキア」といいます。
The school education made it difficult for us to read English words. For example, we learned to read a vowel ”I" as "EE" or "A" as "AH". I understand that there's a long history of taking foreign language in our own language. The pioneers must have had a hard time.
