名刺の正しいやり取りの仕方って新人研修の定番で、ものすごく重要なこととしてうるさく訓練されますけど、海外の人と会ってると「名刺なんて付けたしだなぁ」と思います。その人と直接話してどういう人物なのかよく見るのが重要なのであって、名刺なんてそれこそ話が終わってから「あ、そうそう、名刺渡しておくね。連絡はここに」って出てきたりします。
It's the first training that new employees fresh out of school have to learn, correct way of exchanging business name cards. I know it sounds stupid but people believe that you have to exchange the cards to show who you are and also have to be very polite when receiving a card from your counterpart. If you met a Japanese person on business, I'd suggest that you hand out your card as soon as you meet him/her. It'll make them comfortable.
