アメフトの選手達が国歌斉唱に起立しないと話題になりました。30年近く前の学生時代、冬休みに台湾人の友人達と安いクルーズに乗りました。フロリダからバハマへ2泊ぐらいだったと思いますが、食事の時にアメリカ国歌が鳴り、周囲の人達が胸に手を当てて立ち上がったのは驚きました。アメリカ人というのはこんなに自国を意識して生きているのだなぁと感じたのを思い出しました。
One memory came back when I saw a news about American football players who didn't stand up for the national anthem. Almost 30 years ago during winter school holiday, I joined the group of Taiwanese friends on a short cruise from Florida to Bahamas. I was surprised that the American anthem was played and people around us stood up to sing the anthem at dinner table.
