アメリカ・カナダだけなのかもしれませんが、自宅を訪ねると最初に家の中をツアーして見せてくれるんですよね。これけっこう楽しい。「アメリカ人は大きな家に住んでるからでしょ」とか「掃除が大変！」とか言われますが、大きさに関わらずアパートでもやってくれるし、特別美しく掃除してあるってことでもないです。さすがにお子さんがティーンエイジャーだと、その部屋は開けずに苦笑しながらスルーだったりしますが、ドアは常に開けたままの部屋も多いし、見せるのが当たり前らしい。
I found it interesting when people happily took me to the house tour to show me inside the house when I visited the place. We don't have that custom in Japan. It's really nice if they show me around to see different household and life style.
