I strongly recommend you try "Hagi-no-Tsuki" (萩の月) if you plan to visit Sendai. Hagi-no-Tsuki is probably one of the most famous souvenir in Japan. It's a sweet round sponge cake with custard filling inside and very fluffy and creamy.
萩の月をお土産でいただくとうれしい。なんだろうね？モドキはいくらでもあるけど違うんだよね。本物を食べた時に「あぁ、違うわぁ」って思うの。仙台出張の人はお土産選びに困らないと思う。萩の月が続いちゃったな～って場合でも1回ずんだを挟めばいいじゃん。
